Seminole County Certified Rape Crisis Center

Seminole County VSC OfficeI am honored to share with you that the Victim Service Center of Central Florida has recently been designated as the certified rape crisis center (RCC) for Seminole County by the Florida Council Against Sexual Violence.

What this means in is that our nonprofit agency is now charged with the responsibility of officially bringing to Seminole County residents the services we have been providing to Orange and Osceola County. We began offering assistance to victims in Seminole County in August of last year when we opened an office in Longwood, FL within the Sharing Center. Now, as the certified rape crisis center of Seminole County, we will be operating a 24/7 sexual assault helpline (407-500-HEAL) to provide crisis intervention services to Seminole County residents and always have a member of our team of master’s level crisis counselor/ victim advocates available to victims receiving forensic exams as required under Florida Statues.

On August 16 at 6 p.m. we will be hosting our first Survivor Meet & Greet at the Longwood office located at 600 N. Highway 17-92, Suite 168, Longwood FL 32750. This model of support group allows current clients and those who have been victims of sexual violence who are interested in trying out VSC to drop in to support groups when they need to.

As the newly designated rape crisis center, we look forward to working collaboratively with and building new partnerships in Seminole County to ensure sexual assault victims’ rights are protected and that they receive the highest level of care possible.

The Different Experiences of LGBTQ+ Survivors

People that hold those different identities are often victimized in different ways. It’s important to uplift and bring awareness to those specific experiences in order to validate the experiences of survivors.
